1st Week of Pregnancy: Body Prepares Itself For the Baby

Your 1st week of pregnancy is likely to go unnoticed. Medically speaking, there is no baby, aka, you are not really pregnant yet. Your body will experience a menstrual cycle at 1st week of pregnancy. Here’s how.

What Happens in the 1st Week of Pregnancy?

When you are 1 week pregnant, less happens on the outside but your insides change drastically. Your body starts preparing itself for the baby. It does this by shedding the last month’s egg and uterine lining.

Mom-to-be

In actuality, you may not be pregnant yet. Your body will get rid of the last month’s lining while allowing the new uterine lining to be available for pregnancy. This lining is where the embryo would be placed.

As your last month’s unfertilized egg sheds from your body, a new cycle begins paving way for pregnancy. Your body would be making itself ready by keeping an egg and sperms from your partner set.

Baby

So far there is no baby or embryo visible. The conceiving does not begin until week two or three.

Your gynaecologist and obstetrician would technically mark your pregnancy from the first day of your last period.

1 week Pregnancy Test Kit

You know now that that 1st week of pregnancy is similar to just having a period. Therefore, unless you are planning your gestation, you may not have any tests or scans. However, if you are thoroughly keeping check of your conception medically, your doctor would suggest few checks under 1 week pregnancy test kit.

It majorly includes an ultrasound and a physical assessment of your body. Your doctor may do an ultrasound to check for the presence of fibroids and the thickness of your uterine lining.
